Bottom line

The current Courtyard booking is the worst of both worlds — mid-priced ($12,341) and parked right in the peak Times Square Christmas gridlock, with mismatched beds (two rooms have a twin, awkward for families). Two clean upgrades:

Save the most: Sheraton Tribeca — $8,757, cuts $3,585, same bed setup in every room. Catch: it's downtown, a subway ride from the Midtown Christmas sights.

Best all-round: The Lexington, Autograph — $9,629, cuts $2,713, central for sightseeing but out of the Broadway crush.my pick

#2
The Lexington, Autograph
Midtown East · 48th & Lexington
$9,629
−$2,713

4-star Marriott. Central for sightseeing but far enough east to dodge the Broadway crush.

−$1,267
2 queen beds in all 4 rooms
Residential brownstone block, 4.2-star service, Levain Bakery nearby, easy subway access.

$11,260
−$1,081

#5
The Empire

$11,816
−$525
2 double beds in all 4 rooms
Iconic rooftop, classic NYC feel, just north of the Times Square crush by Central Park's SW corner.

#6
Courtyard Central Park
Times Square · 1717 Broadway (54th St)
$12,341
baseline
Mixed: two rooms 1 double + 1 twin · one 2 doubles · one king
Near Central Park & Broadway, but dead-center in peak Christmas gridlock, and the only option with mismatched beds across rooms.
#7
Arthouse
Upper West Side · 77th & Broadway
$14,314
+$1,973
2 double beds in all 4 rooms
Trendy 1920s historic hotel on a great block — but holiday pricing spikes the 2-bed rooms.
#8
Residence Inn Central Park
Same building as Courtyard · 1717 Broadway
$16,415
+$4,074
2-queen kitchenette suites in all 4 rooms
Highest sticker, but free hot breakfast for 12 + in-room kitchens reportedly save ~$2k+ on food — so the real gap narrows. Street below is mobbed.

#9
Westhouse
Midtown West · 55th & 7th Ave

2 double beds
5-star feel with night lounge credits — but no availability for 4 double-bed rooms over Christmas week.
